The seven biggest myths about vegan food

We're debunking all those popular myths about vegan food this Veganuary - discover some of the best vegan bites in London with Just Eat for Business.

Maybe you think eating vegan food for a month will be a nightmare. Maybe you think there's not enough variety. Or maybe you think all vegan food is just straight-up boring.

If you're avoiding Veganuary this month because of any of these reasons - you might need to think again.

There are a lot of myths surrounding vegan food, and to ring in Veganuary we're debunking the most popular ones whilst uncovering a world of burgers, breakfast rolls and sweet treats - all plant-powered and outrageously delicious, with Just Eat for Business. Read on to discover why these vegan myths couldn't be further from the truth.

1. "Vegan food is just salads"

Vegan food myths

If you think every vegan dish consists of lettuce, sprouts and wheatgrass, we need to introduce you to By CHLOE

Serving vegan fast food that doesn’t compromise on flavour, By CHLOE are one of the biggest vegan names in the capital with a menu consisting of plant-based burgers, 'fish' and chips and even mac 'n' cheese - proving once and for all that vegan food is anything but just salads.

2. "You can't be vegan and have pizza"

Vegan food myths

Think of pizza and you think of doughy, cheesy-goodness. The food of 'just moved in' and 'finally made it to Friday'. The food you couldn't give up, no matter how hard you tried.

And luckily, you don't need to this Veganuary. From the mainstream brands like Pizza Hut to the cult London favourites like Homeslice, more and more pizzerias in London are ditching the cheese - or creating their own vegan version - and putting pizza back on the menu for vegans across the city. And if you want a rundown of the best vegan pizzas in London? Just Eat for Business have you covered.

3. "You can say goodbye to doughnuts and sweet treats"

- Vegan food myths

Milk. Butter. Eggs.

Look up the ingredients for any of your favourite sweet treats, and they're almost certainly going to contain one of those three things. And if we're honest, probably all three. Which means if you want to try going vegan, you can't just wander into Sainsbury's and grab a bag of your favourite doughnuts anymore.

But don't fear, with the plant-based food boom currently taking over the UK, there are more and more places where you can feed your sweet tooth. There's incredible vegan cookies from Floris Bakery and no-dairy cupcakes from Cupcakes & Shhht. Be warned though - you'll want to try all of them.

4. "No meat means no burgers"

Vegan food myths

Until recently, this myth had a bit of truth. Burger joints could get away with murder when it came to non-meat options. Think giant mushrooms slathered in ketchup. Microwaved and mushy bean burgers.

However, with more than half a million people in the UK now identifying as vegan, sloppy mushroom patties just don’t cut the mustard anymore. That means plant-based burgers are getting better and better all the time, with tempeh and mushroom fritters from Patty & Bun, 'bleeding meat' patties from Haché Burgers, and even downright delicious seitan from Twisted London just to name a few.

So next time you're craving a Big Mac this Veganuary, these vegan-friendly restaurants have got your back, and best of all, you can get them delivered right to your desk with Just Eat for Business.

5. "Breakfast without eggs just isn't worth having"

Vegan food myths

No eggs? No bacon? No problem.

The Breakfast Company are making sure you still have the most important meal of the day this Veganuary with a vegan breakfast menu for you to get stuck into. There's veggie sausage and caramelised onion bagels. Smashed avocado and sun-blushed tomato sandwiches. And even vegan pancakes (they exist!) smothered in sweet maple syrup, so there's no chance you'll be missing poached eggs this month.

6. "Vegan food isn't even good for you"

Vegan food myths

Plant-based burgers. Cheese-less pizzas. Vegan sausage rolls.

As vegan fast food grows in popularity and starts to appear on the high street, you might be forgiven for thinking that plant-based food isn't really that good for you. But cutting out animal products altogether has some fairly established health benefits, such as eliminating sources of saturated fat from your diet and adding fibrous vegetables in their place.

And one restaurant putting healthy vegan food on the map is Raw Press. With nutritious and delicious, plant-based meals packed with goodness, this restaurant is proof that adopting the vegan diet is one easy way to be healthy.
