Mental Health Awareness Week 2023: Tips on Supporting Employees | Just Eat for Business

The theme for this year's Mental Health Awareness Week is anxiety. Find out how you can support your teams in this blog post.

While many businesses have solid policies and plans in place to support employees' mental health and wellbeing, there is always work to be done. Every employee is different, and as such, will require different things when it comes to looking after their mental health. That's why it's key for companies to provide a personalised approach. By this, we mean making time for 1-1 check ins, team social time away from desks, and colleague collaborations.

It's important to note that actively supporting employees' mental health has to start from the top. This means that managers should have open and honest conversations with each other and their team members about mental health, as well as advocating for people taking breaks and getting their work-life balance right.

Another tip for supporting employees in looking after their mental health is through having a wide range of  offerings available. This could be in the form of taking a mental health day, enjoying company benefits like health insurance or a subsidised gym membership, or accessing mental health training and resources to help them manage their day-to-day.

The theme for this year's Mental Health Awareness Week is anxiety. While anxiety is a normal emotion, if it's left to get out of control, it can cause problems both professionally and personally. Work stresses like heavy workloads, tight deadlines and office politics can all contribute to anxious feelings. When team members experience high levels of anxiety over a prolonged period of time,  it can impact their productivity, engagement, and overall wellbeing.

At Just Eat for Business, there are several things we offer to all our employees, whether they're in the office or working from home. Whether it's offering subsidised lunches in the office, or access to treats while working from home with Just Eat Pay, to the opportunity to work flexibly, we provide initiatives that keep morale high. We invest in a range of perks - ones that benefit people individually as well as social activities that help bring teams together.

If you're looking for ways to bring your team together throughout the week (and beyond!), why not arrange for an in-office pop-up? Encouraging social time together away from desks while enjoying some delicious, healthy food and drink can help provide a much-needed break for your team. We've picked out our favourites below.
